Marsh Mysteries $80

Meet some of the hidden critters – aquatic invertebrates – who make their homes in Alberta’s waters! Investigate the varying lifecycle stages that happen both in and out of the water, and where you might find them in your own city or neighbourhood. Using a dichotomous key, you’ll learn the unique characteristics of local invertebrates and practice your new-found skills in identifying different species. By the end of this program, you’ll be ready to pick up your dip net and explore your local wetland and identify your neighbourhood invertebrates!

Who Am I? $80

Investigate the wild animals who call Alberta home! From mammals and birds to reptiles, amphibians, fish and insects, we’ll explore how to identify Alberta’s wildlife by learning about their unique characteristics. Get ready to decipher clues and follow the facts to test your abilities in identifying some well-known and lesser-known wildlife. Whether furry, feathered, scaly or too small to see, you’ll learn that each of these creatures plays an important role in maintaining healthy ecosystems - and so do you!

Coming in 2021

Nature Sense $80

Look through the eyes of an insect and feel through the scaly skin of a snake as you explore the ways Alberta’s wildlife use their senses to successfully navigate and survive. You might experience Alberta’s natural spaces a little differently the next time you head outside!

Fish Hatchery Tour $80

Take a behind-the-scenes virtual tour of one of the largest indoor hatcheries in North America: the Sam Livingston Fish Hatchery! Get the ‘fins’ and ‘trouts’ on how millions of trout are raised from egg to alevin to fry to adult, and the techniques used to care for these trout at each lifecycle stage. We’ll follow these fish as they head out on a stocking trip to their final destination – one of over 200 waterbodies in Alberta – and discuss the importance of Alberta’s fish stocking program in supporting diverse fisheries. You might be surprised to find out about the role you play in keeping fish and their habitats healthy!

Deck Out a Trout $80

Explore the unchartered waters that Alberta’s fish find themselves swimming in and the impacts they could have on long-term fish health and survival. Be ready to get a bit creative too as we enter into a fin-tasy land and brainstorm imaginative ways to help fish adapt to environmental challenges.
